Desert Diamond Casinos & Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Tohono O’odham Nation, owns and operates the Desert Diamond Casino Tucson. The Tucson property, which first opened its doors in 1993, was the tribe’s initial establishment.
A few years later, similar venues were opened by the Tohono O’odham Nation in Why and Sahuarita. The last of these was opened in Glendale in 2015.
The original Nogales Highway casino was superseded by a new casino and hotel complex, the Desert Diamond Casino Tucson, in 2007. This venue provides employment to over 1,200 Native and non-Native Americans, and contributes millions in tax revenue.
