WynnBet is set to expand its sports betting services to Arizona, adding to its increasing list of states. Wynn Resorts revealed a new collaboration with the San Carlos Apache Tribe on Friday, granting them access to online sports betting in the state.
WynnBet will collaborate with the San Carlos Apache Tribal Gaming Enterprise, the entity that operates the tribe’s two casinos – Winkelman Apache Sky Casino and Santa Carlos Gold Casino. The partnership allows WynnBet to pursue certification in the state, pending regulatory approval and registration requirements.
WynnBet expands into Arizona through the first tribe-operator partnership with the state.
This is the first partnership of its kind between a sportsbook operator and an Arizona tribe, represented by the deal. Earlier this week, a similar deal was announced between Bally’s and the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA.
Partnerships that have already been announced include the Phoenix Suns with FanDuel sports betting, the Arizona Diamondbacks with Caesars Entertainment, and TPC Scottsdale with DraftKings.
Under the new sports gambling laws, professional sports teams and venues can now obtain up to 10 licenses. In addition, a group of federally recognized tribes have been granted 10 more licenses by the state. Each license allows the operation of both a physical and an online casino.
Arizona recently passed a sports betting policy, with the intent to implement it in time for the 2021 NFL regular season that starts on September 9. It is one of many states to do so.
The federal government approved the amended tribal-state particles in May, following their signing into law by Gov. Doug Ducey in April. The Arizona Department of Gaming has formulated the first set of principles, and public feedback on these was welcomed in June. The review and issuance of licenses are still in progress.

WynnBet may now have access to Arizona, which is the tenth furthest state.
WynnBet has been busy establishing further sports-related partnerships, including those with the Cincinnati Reds from MLB and the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons from the NBA. In addition to operating online sportsbooks for numerous racetracks, WynnBet is also a licensed entertainment operator for NASCAR.
In May, Wynn Resorts declared that Austerlitz Acquisition Corporation I had merged with Vegas Golden Knights’ owner Bill Foley and other special purpose acquisition companies to go public. Despite the merger, Wynn Resorts continues to hold a 58% majority stake in the business.
